Baby food ideas
A lovely friend asked for a post on “baby foods with quinoa and other Eucale type ingredients” (for her 7 month old). So, here are some healthy, easy and fun baby food ideas that I love, for bubs around that age:
- Avocado (so handy too, just chuck in your bag with a spoon. Easy!)
- Baby risotto (try quinoa, chicken, cheese*, and peas cooked until soft)
- Baked beans
- Bolognese sauce
- Cooked carrot sticks
- Creamed corn
- Frozen/defrosted blueberries
- Grated cheese*
- Hummus (contains sesame*)
- Meat from stews of casseroles cut very small or shredded
- Porridge (try adding sultanas, they become so lovely, soft and plump)
- Rice (kids love learning to pick it up)
- Roast sweet potato/ pumpkin in little pieces progressing to chips/fingers
- Salmon*, cooked and flaked
- Soft cooked pasta elbows/risoni
- Soft scrambled eggs*
- Stewed fruit
- Tofu*
- Yogurt*
*These foods are the most common allergens in kids. However, according the Australian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy, potentially allergic foods should be introduced from 4-6 months like other foods, but one at a time, with 2-3 days in between, so any reactions can be readily identified.
